If you want to learn to sail, go here! I'm grateful another sailing center member recommended this club and sailing classes. I wanted to try sailing for many years; the training, instructor (Allison), and boats far exceeded my expectations. Allison's knowledge, experience, and passion for sailing and helping others learn to sail shines through. The classroom training was helpful and we got several hours of sailing time both days. I look forward to my next day sailing!

Always had learn to sail on my list. After 2 hours of classroom learning we were in our boats and on the open water. It is amazing. Alison Jolly is the perfect instructor for all you beginners. SPSC staff are really helpful. Enjoy!

A great spot to boat watch, take a stroll or just hang out. If you are lucky you may even catch sight of dolphins swimming by in the afternoons and mornings!

The Sailing Center membership concept is awesome but the reality isn't great. An inexpensive Sailing Center membership gets you access to Ideal 18 sailboats after you've passed a proficiency test. You can use the boats anytime between 8 am and 5 pm Tuesday through Sunday as long as the wind is between 5 mph and 15 mph.
The problem is that the Sailing Center shares docks with the St Peterburg Yacht Club. SPYC sponsors regattas more than half of the weekends in Feb-Apr. When the regatta boats are going out or coming in, Sailing Center members don't have access to the docks. So, in the spring, you can really only sail during the week before 5 pm. I'm hoping that it isn't as inconvenient in the summer and fall. We'll see.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Learn-to-Sail class with Allison Jolly. She's a great teacher, both in the classroom and on the water.
